Peter said, “I don’t have a nickel to my name, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!” Acts 3:6
It can be really hard during the holiday season to be inundated with messages that say “Buy this! It’s exactly what [insert recipient here] needs!” – especially when, like many people, you have limited resources.
Sometimes, though, what people really need doesn’t cost us a dime.
Peter came across a lame beggar who thought he needed the spare change of passers-by. What he really needed was the healing hand of the Lord to get him up out of his situation entirely, and that didn’t cost Peter a thing.
You may have people all around you who need an encouraging word to help get them through a difficult day. Even if you don’t know the particulars of what they’re going through, God can use you to be that boost to their spirits that can turn things around for them and help them get to where they need to be – and it doesn’t have to cost you anything at all.
Start asking Him for people you can bless with a timely word or an act of kindness so they will be strengthened for their journey. Pray for them, and let them know they’re being lifted up to the Father. Write an email, a text, or just a small note and let them know that they are important to you, and to Him.
It’s not about the money. It’s about showing His love to those around us, in whatever way we can.
