Christmas is over. The new year is just days away. And, just like clockwork, you hear one word coming at you from all sides:

Everyone wants to know which ones you’re making. Magazines, television, and the internet have suggestions. You’ve probably thought of a few yourself.

What is a resolution, without a plan? And if you’re like me, you aren’t very good at either.

Might I suggest a different approach this year? Why not involve God, the Master Planner, in your search for goals?

According to Proverbs 16:1, ” Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word.”

Isn’t that the truth? I can plan to start exercising, stop eating everything that crosses my path, save more money, or finally buy those Christmas decorations on clearance the day after, but none of it matters if God isn’t in on the action.

Someone told me recently that instead of making a resolution, she was asking God to reveal one word to her that she could work on throughout the coming year. I think remembering that God is in control, that He’s weaving our life’s tale, is so very important.

What story is God going to write in your life over the next 12 months? It could be more amazing than anything you could imagine!
