” Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God —let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” Hebrews 4:14-16
Confidence – it’s the quality of knowing deep down inside that we’re doing the right thing. If you have confidence, it doesn’t matter what is going on around you – you persevere.
How do you get that unshakable feeling? It sometimes seems like some are just born with it. Others of us though, have to work for it. When I used to write newspaper articles, it meant knowing my facts were right and my reporting was sound. When I sing, it means practicing the notes until they are second nature.
When it comes to receiving help from God, we can come to Him boldly and confidently because of two things.
One, we know He identifies with us. There isn’t anything we will face that Jesus hasn’t already. Two, we can be confident because we know that we are supposed to be there, depending on Him. Over and over in scripture, he pleads with us to place our burdens on Him. He loves us and longs to help us.
Don’t be afraid or ashamed to come to Him whenever you need. He is waiting. You are supposed to be there. Rest in that confident hope.
