So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. Ephesians 2:19-21
When I was a little girl, we sang a song that went, “The more we work together…the happier we’ll be…for my work is your work and our work is God’s work.”
As I got older and got to know more members of the Body of Christ, I realized that the truth of that song was in the diversity of His Church. We may have different signs in front of our buildings. We may “do” church a little differently. But what we can agree on is this: there is more than enough Kingdom work to go around! As long as there are lost people around us, we must learn to partner with others of like faith to get the job done.
His purpose is that all of His children pitch in to build His Kingdom. I pray that each of us, from the pulpit to the pew, will do our part – because no matter what “name” we give ourselves, we all carry the name of Christ.
