“I once was young, now I’m a graybeard—not once have I seen an abandoned believer, or his kids out roaming the streets. Every day he’s out giving and lending, his children making him proud” Psalm 37:25-26
I was pumping gas – not my favorite activity – and my first thought was how far the prices, though still sky-high, had fallen in recent weeks. I drive many miles each week, so every penny counts!
Then, I started to think about the wide range of gas prices I’d seen in my 20 years as a driver. When I started out, paying less than $1 a gallon was average. At one point early in my marriage I bought it for $0.78, thanks to a price war between nearby stations!
I was reminded of today’s verse. Just like the gas pump, our lives have highs and lows. God is faithful through it all! Whether gas is $1 or $5 a gallon, He is able to meet that need. Whether you need divine healing or deliverance for a lost loved one, He is there.
He hasn’t promised that the life of a believer would be easy. What He has promised, time and time again, is that He will be with us each step of the way.
Would I like to go back to cheap gas? Of course I would, and I bet you would too! But we can have peace knowing that whatever comes our way, the Lord is waiting to walk alongside us and meet us at the point of our need.
