Last year, I moved out into the country. Way, way out into the country. It’s only four miles from the interstate, but it may as well be 20! It’s dark here in the woods at night, and our yard is only lit by the utility light at my parents’ house next door. Without that, it would be pitch black after the sun sets!
One advantage I’ve found to living without street lights and business signs is the multitude of stars we can see on a clear night. It’s beautiful! Without the interference of artificial light, we are treated to a display of God’s glory that isn’t visible a few miles down the road “in town.”
The thing is, the stars were always there, but sometimes the atmosphere made it hard to see them.
God is always here, with us, too. Sometimes our circumstances – stress, unbelief, the voices of others – make it hard to see Him. Sometimes His workings are hidden from us while they are going on. But, He is still there! Just like those stars, He always has been, and He always will be.
I pray that if you’re struggling to hear from God today, that He will reveal Himself to you. I pray that, if you need to, you will be able to come away for a while and get alone, to shut out the distractions around you so you can hear Him speak. I pray that you will always remember that He is always there, whether we can see Him at work or not.
