“Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish!” Ephesians 2:8

We all know them – the folks whose names are in the gift exchange drawing who you pray won’t draw your name. Whether it’s at the office, in your family, or through a group you belong to, there is usually at least one person whose reputation for giving terrible gifts precedes them. Potential risks include tacky sweaters, not-quite-right baked goods, and unwanted knickknacks. You are probably reliving some bad gift experiences right now!

God has given us many gifts, but chief among them is salvation. Sending His son to redeem us – to “buy us back” from the enemy – has been called indescribable, unspeakable, and just plain amazing. That He would offer to us what we have no hope of obtaining on our own is truly miraculous.

It’s always the right size, color, and.shape. It never wears out, never becomes outdated, never becomes more trouble than it’s worth.

We can’t earn it, and we certainly don’t deserve it, but He offers it anyway. Praise be to God for the ultimate gift – eternal life.
