“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” Phil. 4:8-9

We all have those mornings when our alarm clock goes off and we just don’t think we can take whatever this day wants to dish out…

Or times when anxiety threatens to get the best of us…

Or pits of despair that we can’t seem to climb out of…

For times like these, we need to take pre-emptive action. We need to have some good, lovely, worthy thoughts prepared to fall back on and push those other thoughts out.

Think of it as “doomsday prep” for your thought life. Those assaults will come, and the only way to survive is to be prepared. Otherwise you risk falling into a downward spiral and sinking further.

What will your lovely thoughts be? Ask God to show you what He wants you to think on – before the battle comes.
