“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2
Imagine you have several people in front of you, offering to pray for an ongoing situation in your life. Are you going to choose one to whom you have to explain the whole story – again – or, the person who already knows all about it before you open your mouth? There is something comforting in the familiarity of a friend who knows your struggles because they have walked through the trials with you.
Jesus is that friend to us. He knows what we need before we ask, because He has been there with us. We don’t have to go into a long explanation of our problem when we approach Him, because He has been by our side the whole time.
Don’t be too embarassed or intimidated to approach Him in prayer. He already knows what your problem is. Take comfort in the knowledge that He is already familiar with your situation, and He already knows the solution. He is already working on your behalf before you ask – so just ask.
