“…for the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.” Proverbs 24:16

Do you ever watch “extreme sports” like snowboarders, skateboarders, and surfers? It’s amazing to watch them jump, spin, and perform aerial acrobatics. I wouldn’t even know where to begin if you handed me one of those boards!

What you aren’t seeing on the screen are the many times those athletes fell down. They didn’t wake up one day being proficient in their feild. It took blood, sweat, possibly tears, and a lot of bandages. The difference is that when they fell down, they got back up. They wouldn’t have succeeded if they had let their mistakes defeat and define them.

We don’t accept Christ and automatically arrive at “perfect Christian” status. Far from it! As long as we live and serve Him, we will stumble and sometimes fall. But the difference becomes when we don’t let our mistakes defeat and define us. We get back up. He forgives us. We learn from our mistakes and we move on in Him.

Are you feeling defeated today? Don’t! He knows we will fall. He has made provision for us to be forgiven and free. Learn, grow, and become what He created you to be. Get back up!
