“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” Psalm 23:2
Stillness isn’t something we experience much these days. Some of that is unavoidable, but for some, stillness is unacceptable.
You know the type (and maybe the type is you): some people can’t stand the quiet, the stillness, the pause in life. Some are afraid of being alone with their thoughts, because there is chaos there. Some need to “keep busy” so that they don’t have to deal with a situation. And some are constantly moving in a bid to prove they are “enough.”
God doesn’t expect any of those things from us. He beckons us to sit with him beside still waters.
For chaos, He offers a peaceful, sound mind.
For busy avoidance, He offers lasting hope.
For thoughts of “not good enough,” He offers unconditional love.
Don’t be afraid of being still with Him. Embrace the quiet. Let Him restore your soul. Find your peace with the Good Shepherd. Learn to rest in Him.
