“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
When is a bunny like a lion?
When she’s on the prowl!
Normally we think of rabbits as prey animals, and not predators. But my bunny, Lucy, has one goal in mind: getting into my bedroom, so she can hide under my bed. The problem with her plan (from our perspective) is that it’s pretty difficult to get her back out again, and we have to put her back in her pen before we leave so she doesn’t chew everything in sight!
So, she waits. She waits for any little opportunity to dash into my bedroom. If we don’t close the door completely, she somehow senses it and pushes in with her nose. She scratches under the door. She will not be deterred!
Our enemy operates the same way. We have to be ever vigilant, as he is waiting for any little crack to work his way into our lives. And once he becomes entrenched, it can be very difficult to rout him.
So, do what I do with Lucy. Watch out. Keep the door to your heart shut tightly. Be vigilant! After all, you never know when a bunny, or an enemy, may be waiting to move.
