“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

We have a word that aptly describes the state many of us live in today: cacophony. It basically means lots of different noises,  vying for our attention. There is so much diversity of sound and substance,  nothing of any worth can get through. Communication is non-existant.

There is one Voice we need desperately to be able to hear,  and that is the one of our Heavenly Father. It is essential that we cut through the other distracting sounds and listen for what He is saying to us. How can hear Him above the din?
We have to train our ear to His voice. That means being intentional about spending time with Him,  in prayer and His word. It means pausing throughout our day and setting our minds on Him. It means pushing through all else that wants to have our attention first.

It’s never too late to start. Just a few minutes each day of setting aside time for the Lord will help you be more attuned to Him. And like with anything else, the more you practice, the more it becomes second nature.

Take time. Pause. Breathe Him in. Listen. Hear His voice above the noise.
